John Boyd Textiles has woven horsehair fabrics in Castle Cary since 1837, using the original looms and techniques since 1870. Horsehair fabrics are natural fabrics and are used mainly for upholstery of classical and contemporary furniture, wallcoverings, screens and lampshades and are highly regarded for their quality, durability, lustre and inherent fire resistant properties.
Many new colours and weaves have been added to the range and can be seen at the ‘Taste of Design’ roadshows. Custom colours are also available for a minimum order of 20 meters. John Boyd Textiles now distributes ‘Designs of the Times’, a luxurious eclectic collection from Belgium of linens, weaves and prints, all stocked with an extensive range of colours.
